Jax Taylor, known for his role on “Vanderpump Rules” and as the host of the “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany” podcast, has decided to pursue in-patient treatment for his mental health issues. This announcement was confirmed by his representative in a statement released on Tuesday, July 30.
This decision follows Taylor’s recent separation from his wife, Brittany Cartwright. Taylor, 45, has been open about his mental health struggles, particularly on his podcast in recent months. His representative emphasized that this is a challenging time for Taylor and his family, requesting privacy until Taylor is ready to discuss the situation further.
On Monday, July 29, Taylor shared a photo on his Instagram story featuring two self-help books: “Get Out of Your Mind & Into Your Life” and “Set Boundaries, Find Peace.” He captioned the post with the word “Healing.” Earlier, he had also posted an image of a Buddha statue with an inspirational quote: “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.” He accompanied this post with emojis including a smile, a prayer, and a heart.
Taylor has been candid about his relationship difficulties with Cartwright, with whom he had been involved for over a decade. The couple separated in February 2024 after five years of marriage but continued to appear together publicly, including attending The White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April, albeit in separate hotel rooms.
In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Taylor acknowledged, “We’re just trying to figure things out. I’ve given you real-time updates; I don’t know what’s going to happen. I am definitely working on myself right now.” He added, “The separation has definitely been good for me, but I do miss her. I miss her a lot. So, I don’t know, we’ll see if she’ll take me back.”
Speaking to E! News, Taylor mentioned, “I was going through a lot of personal issues with myself and my mental health that needed a time out.” He noted that their situation is fluid, stating, “We’re talking. We’re eating dinner, we’re going out for drinks. So, who knows? Do I want to be back together again? Of course I would, but, you know, we gotta see what’s healthy for us and our son.”
Taylor and Cartwright have a three-year-old son named Cruz. Cartwright has acknowledged Taylor’s need for personal growth, stating, “He needs to work on himself… there’s no back together right now.”
