With school out for the summer, teens lose the structure of their regular school days. However, doctors suggest that teens can still maintain a healthy routine during the break.
Dr. Paula Cody, the medical director of adolescent medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, offers tips for teens and their parents to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer.
“During the summer, maintaining a routine is crucial,” says Dr. Cody. “A routine is vital for both physical and mental health. This includes keeping a consistent sleep schedule, especially waking up at the same time every day, so you’re not sleeping the day away.”
