A 50-year-old columnist, who was scheduled to fly to Canada this week, has found herself in the cardiac unit of St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.
The journalist shared her unexpected health crisis on Instagram, stating, “It’s all happened very fast – diagnosed Friday, in surgery Monday.” She urged her followers not to ignore symptoms, revealing that she felt faint and nearly blacked out after exercise.
The columnist, known for her work on sex and relationships, has been diagnosed with non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT) and sustained ventricular tachycardia (SVT). Both conditions can lead to rapid heart rhythms, cardiac arrest, or even death.
“I am blessed I found this out before not after,” she said in her Instagram post. “My body knew something wasn’t right, so I got it checked out. If there is anything you can take from this, it is to never ignore what your body is telling you.”
She explained that while she may need a defibrillator in the worst-case scenario, the best outcome could be managed with medication. “You can be fit, booze-free, and all the rest, but never, ever be complacent,” she warned.
Goff has previously shared her journey of leaving the escort industry and overcoming alcohol and drug addiction. Now, she works as a Pilates instructor, podcaster, and mental health advocate.
This health scare follows her recent social media posts about her transformation after abandoning a party lifestyle. “50 is the new 30 … but I was really unfit and boozed up at 30. 50 is 50. Fitter and happier but it takes WORK: emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual hard work,” she wrote.
She credited her progress to a support network of therapists, trainers, close friends, and family. “Exercise for mental health, not just for a good body, and the rest will follow,” she concluded.
