Louie Haer from WVU Medicine highlighted one of the key offerings: reduced-cost blood screenings. “We provide these screenings about three times a year,” Haer explained. “People pay for the blood work today, get a voucher, and then have a month to use it at any of our six Camden Clark locations.”

The first 100 attendees received free electrocardiogram (EKG) vouchers, which can be redeemed on September 14. The Rotary Club of Parkersburg sold the EKG vouchers at a cost of $43 for women and $50 for men, reflecting its ongoing partnership with WVU Medicine Camden Clark.

Kim Couch, Rotary president and executive director of the Camden-Clark Foundation, emphasized the event’s community impact. “It’s a great opportunity for us to volunteer and support our mission of service above self,” Couch said.

Additional services included blood pressure checks, body fat measurements, and derma scans. Derma scans are used to detect potential skin cancers that may not be visible to the naked eye. Lauren Gillian, director of cancer services at WVU Medicine, explained, “We examine areas like the face, forehead, and neck for any issues that might not be immediately noticeable. This helps participants monitor their skin health and work with their providers to address any concerns.”

Westbrook Health Services provided information on preventive care for addiction and mental health support. They highlighted suicide prevention efforts in West Virginia, noting that 173 programming sites have been established across 47 counties. They also offered details on a crisis text line and a suicide and crisis lifeline. Westbrook offers office-based addiction treatment to support individuals with substance use disorders in the region.
