Dr. Joanne Conroy, Chair of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and CEO of Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, N.H., presented the 2024 Foster G. McGaw prize to Boston Medical Center on July 22. This award recognized the hospital’s leadership and efforts to enhance care quality, improve access to care, and promote health equity in its local community. Englewood Health in Englewood, N.J., and NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City were also acknowledged as finalists.
On the same day, WellSpan Health in York, Pa., received the 2024 AHA Quest for Quality prize for its comprehensive approach to maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and equity across its system. Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va., Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, and MUSC Health in Charleston, S.C., were named as finalists. Hospitals and health systems can apply for the 2025 award until September 12.
The AHA also honored Main Line Health in Radnor, Pa., Augusta Health in Fisherville, Va., and AnMed in Anderson, S.C., with the Carolyn Boone Lewis Equity of Care Award this year. This accolade recognizes their efforts to address health disparities and inequities in their communities. AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack praised the recipients, stating they serve as exemplary models for the hospital field in improving the lives of patients, communities, and employees.
