The National Health Service (NHS) in Britain has reported a global IT outage affecting its appointment and patient record system. Despite the disruption, critical emergency services remain unaffected.
An NHS spokesperson confirmed the issue involves EMIS, the system used for managing appointments and patient records. This problem is causing disruptions in most GP practices.
The NHS has established protocols to handle such disruptions. These include using paper records and handwritten prescriptions, as well as continuing to operate standard phone systems.
