A recent poll by Superdrug reveals that Brits will spend £1.4 billion on health and beauty products this summer. The survey also shows that over a third of people will take inspiration from TikTok and other social media trends to update their looks for the season.

The poll coincides with the launch of Superdrug’s new Yellow Pennies fundraising initiative, in collaboration with longtime charity partner Marie Curie. The partnership, which has recently reached a £12 million fundraising milestone, aims to support the end-of-life charity’s work.

Strictly Come Dancing star and TV presenter, Karim Zeroual, has joined the campaign, encouraging shoppers to add a 20p donation to their in-store purchases. These donations will help fund Marie Curie’s vital services.

The survey highlights a resurgence of 1990s makeup trends, such as pink blusher, body glitter, and dark lip liner. Sun safety products are also a priority for many shoppers.

According to the poll, women in the UK are expected to spend £871 million on health and beauty products this season. Among men, 27% plan to spend over £30, with popular purchases including deodorant (61%), SPF (50%), razors (45%), and fake tan (6%). Additionally, 35% of respondents admitted that social media heavily influences their buying decisions.

The work they do to help people at the end of their lives is so valuable – so I encourage everyone to donate their spare change to the charity on their next Superdrug shop.”
