Jamie Foxx is finally shedding light on the undisclosed medical emergency that put him in the hospital last year.
In a newly released video, the “Django Unchained” actor spoke to a crowd about his illness, revealing that he had no memory of the first 20 days of his hospital stay.
“I had a headache and asked my friend for an Advil,” Foxx recounted. “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”
Foxx explained that when he regained consciousness, his sister and daughter took him to a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot to treat his condition. However, a second doctor discovered there was an issue with his brain.
“I won’t say it on camera,” Foxx said, prompting laughter from the audience.
The 55-year-old’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, first announced his medical scare in April 2023 while he was in Atlanta filming a Netflix movie.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Corinne, 29, posted on Instagram at the time. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.”
A month later, Foxx thanked his fans and supporters for their well wishes during his health crisis but did not disclose the nature of his illness.
The “Day Shift” star described his recovery journey as a challenging experience.
“I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery has some potholes as well, but I’m coming back,” Foxx shared in a video on social media. “I’m able to work.”
