Sources indicate that he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), receiving round-the-clock monitoring. As of now, Shakira has not made any statements regarding this development.
Concerns for Her Father’s Health
Mr. Mebarak’s health has been declining since 2022, a tumultuous year marked by Shakira’s separation from Gerard Piqué, the father of her children. During this period, he faced several hospitalizations in Barcelona.
In May 2022, he experienced a fall resulting in a head injury. Shakira shared details of this incident on her social media, revealing that she accompanied him to a medical facility in Barcelona.
In October of the same year, Mr. Mebarak suffered a stroke, further complicating his health. Despite these challenges, Shakira remained dedicated to his care, supporting him through his recovery process and participating in his rehabilitation efforts.
Relocation and Continued Support
Following her separation from Piqué in spring 2023, Shakira, along with her children and parents, relocated from Spain to Miami. During this transition, her parents traveled separately in an ambulance to join her.
After a brief period in Florida, Shakira’s parents journeyed to Colombia, where Mr. William underwent surgery for hydrocephalus in June of the same year. Shakira traveled to Cartagena to offer her support during his recovery.
