In a significant development for women’s healthcare, Boston-based Heranova Lifesciences has officially launched, backed by a substantial $13.5 million in seed and seed+ funding. The funding round saw participation from distinguished investors, including Emerging Technology Partners, Pivotal bioVenture Partners China, Sinovation Ventures, and Triwise Capital.
Specializing in reproductive health, pregnancy, and menopause, Heranova Lifesciences is set to make substantial contributions to the field. The company, which has established its presence in both the United States and China, is dedicated to providing diagnostic tests and therapeutics aimed at detecting and treating conditions such as endometriosis, female fertility issues, and bacterial vaginosis.
The comprehensive range of offerings includes diagnostic testing and therapeutics for endometriosis, a non-antibiotic vaginal bacteria therapeutic for bacterial vaginosis, and genetic testing. Additionally, Heranova Lifesciences provides an endometrial receptivity and microbiome trio test for female fertility.
The secured funding will be strategically utilized by Heranova Lifesciences to launch a series of non-invasive endometriosis tests. Furthermore, the company aims to advance two therapeutic programs dedicated to addressing bacterial vaginosis and endometriosis.
Dr. Farideh Bischoff, Chief Diagnostic Medical Officer at Heranova, emphasized the significance of convenient and reliable diagnostic tests in the overall management of women’s health issues. In a statement, Dr. Bischoff stated, “The diagnostic products developed by our R&D team have received endorsement from global leading KOLs as they may help to significantly shorten the time from disease onset to diagnosis and subsequent treatment. To provide an integrated solution, we are also developing first-in-class, non-hormonal therapeutic programs for endometriosis.”
