Between January and June 2023, a comprehensive nutrition intervention initiative has successfully reached a substantial number of beneficiaries. A total of 203,630 boys and girls under the age of five, as well as 125,229 pregnant and lactating women (PLW), have received preventative and therapeutic nutrition support.
In the wake of devastating earthquakes that struck the Menbij and Kobani regions, the Nutrition Working Group (NWG) partners have stepped up their efforts to provide essential aid to the affected communities. Two dedicated nutrition partners swiftly mobilized to extend assistance, commencing with an initial rapid assessment to gauge the extent of the crisis. Subsequently, they delivered crucial services, including Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling, benefitting 4,847 pregnant and lactating women (PLW). Moreover, Mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) screening was conducted for 310 PLW and 47,925 children under the age of five (Cu5). Notably, these efforts facilitated the efficient referral of identified cases requiring treatment to appropriate healthcare facilities.
This proactive response underscores the dedication of nutrition partners to ensure the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly in times of crisis.
