A 26-year-old Australian man, Conor Briggs, has shared his heartbreaking journey of battling severe heart complications following his COVID vaccination, which led him to contemplate ending his life. Briggs, who was once a healthy and active individual, developed pericarditis – an inflammation of the heart’s lining – after receiving two doses of the Pfizer vaccine in 2021. Despite multiple hospital visits and consultations with cardiologists, Briggs claims that his condition was dismissed by medical professionals, and he was merely prescribed antidepressants.
Before the vaccines, Briggs was in peak physical condition, regularly running up to 10km and studying IT while working in property leasing. He trusted the advice from health authorities and had no immediate concerns about the vaccines, despite hearing some media reports about potential side effects. However, after receiving his first dose in September 2021, he began experiencing tightness in his chest and breathing difficulties, which escalated after his second shot in October.
Briggs’ life has since been drastically altered. The physical pain and exhaustion have kept him from working, and he spends most of his time at home, struggling with the weight of his condition. On several occasions, he recalls being told by doctors that his condition wasn’t serious enough for compensation or adequate treatment, leaving him feeling hopeless and unsupported.
“I remember one doctor telling me, ‘Luckily it’s only pericarditis,'” Briggs said, recalling the dismissive tone. “I thought, ‘Lucky me, a 23-year-old with heart problems.'”
Despite his ordeal, Briggs has not given up the fight for justice. He is now part of a class action lawsuit led by Dr. Melissa McCann, targeting Australian health authorities for allegedly failing to adequately address the harm caused by COVID vaccines. The lawsuit seeks accountability for the vaccine injuries that have severely impacted his life and the lives of others.
While Briggs has tried numerous treatments, including alternative therapies, and found some relief through osteopathy, he still experiences debilitating symptoms, including palpitations and difficulty breathing in certain conditions. His emotional state, affected by the constant physical pain, reached a low point, but he eventually confided in his family about his suicidal thoughts.
Briggs has also participated in the ‘Forest of the Fallen,’ a protest organized by those who claim to have been harmed by COVID vaccinations. The protest aims to raise awareness of vaccine-related injuries and provide a platform for individuals like Briggs to share their experiences.
A spokesperson for Pfizer, in response to Briggs’ case, reiterated the company’s commitment to vaccine safety, emphasizing the widespread benefits of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The company pointed to the extensive post-authorization surveillance that continues to monitor the vaccine’s safety globally.
Despite the official stance, Briggs remains unconvinced, questioning the sufficiency of the support and treatment provided to individuals suffering from vaccine-related injuries. His legal battle continues in the hope that it may bring attention to the issue and prevent others from enduring similar hardships.
