Donald Glover, widely known by his stage name Childish Gambino, has canceled the remainder of his North American and UK tour dates due to health issues. The 41-year-old musician shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account on October 4.
In his message, Glover explained that after a performance in New Orleans, he sought medical attention in Houston for a health issue that had emerged. “After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” Glover wrote.
Following medical evaluation, it was determined that he could not perform as planned. “After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and after more tests, I could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked,” he added.
Glover further revealed that he is scheduled to undergo surgery for the undisclosed condition. “My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously,” he stated.
As a result, the artist made the decision to cancel the remaining North American shows, as well as his upcoming UK and European dates. “With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates,” Glover said.
Expressing his disappointment, Glover concluded his statement by thanking fans for their understanding and support. “I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for the love, privacy, and support,” he wrote.
The cancellation comes as a significant blow to fans eager to see the “This is America” singer perform live. No further details about the surgery or his expected recovery timeline have been disclosed.
