Greece’s public health authority issued a warning on Monday about the West Nile virus.
The Hellenic National Public Health Organization (EODY) stated that the virus is circulating intensely during the current 2024 transmission season, with more cases recorded compared to the same period in the past five years.
The virus has been detected in five regions across Greece, and more cases are anticipated in Greece and other European countries.
In response to this situation, EODY advised citizens to take precautions against mosquitoes, such as using insect repellents, mosquito nets, and avoiding stagnant water.
The West Nile virus is mainly transmitted through mosquito bites and can cause symptoms like fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or rashes.
