PinkPantheress has announced the cancellation of all her upcoming tour dates to prioritize her physical health and overall wellbeing. The 23-year-old musician, who had been touring with Olivia Rodrigo in the US, was also scheduled to co-headline the Field Day festival in London later this month.
The singer revealed her decision through a series of Instagram posts, stating, “It appears I have reached a wall which I’m struggling to penetrate through.” Known for hits like “Boy’s A Liar” and “Just For Me,” PinkPantheress expressed her gratitude to her fans, touring team, and Olivia Rodrigo for the opportunity to perform.
“I’m sad to disappoint anyone and can only hope we will be in each other’s company once I return to health,” she added.
PinkPantheress was set to continue supporting Olivia Rodrigo’s tour for several more weeks and had additional festival appearances planned in Florida, Arizona, the UK, and Thailand. She has also cancelled a tour of Australia and New Zealand, which included eight dates supporting Coldplay.
Rise to Fame
PinkPantheress gained recognition during the pandemic by posting song snippets on TikTok. Her tracks, such as “Break It Off” and “Just A Waste,” quickly went viral with her distinctive breathy vocals over retro garage beats. Initially keeping her identity a secret, she won the BBC’s Sound of 2022 poll and achieved a major hit with “Boy’s A Liar Pt 2,” a collaboration with Ice Spice.
In June 2022, she cancelled a performance at Spain’s Primavera Festival due to partial hearing loss, later revealing she had lost 80% of the hearing in her right ear. Despite this, she continued to create music, contributing to the Barbie soundtrack with the song “Angel” and releasing her debut album, “Heaven Knows,” in November.
Earlier this year, PinkPantheress launched her Capable of Love Tour. The tour generated notable social media buzz, including a memorable moment in Dublin when she surprised the crowd with an all-male Irish dance group during her performance of “Angel.” In Ohio, she gave a fan a Coach handbag worth about £300 in exchange for a homemade gift.
Garbage Cancels Shows Due to Injury
Separately, the rock band Garbage has also cancelled their upcoming shows following an injury sustained by lead singer Shirley Manson during their European tour. The band announced that Manson will require surgery and rehabilitation but did not disclose details about the injury.
In an Instagram post, Manson expressed her disappointment, saying, “No-one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could.”
The cancellations include several high-profile festival appearances in the US. Liz Phair will replace Garbage at the HFStival in Washington, DC, and Devo will take their place at the Ohana Fest in California.
