Fat Joe has lost nearly 200 pounds in recent years, and he’s sharing the secrets behind his impressive transformation. At the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, Joe opened up to Us Weekly about the role Ozempic and dietary changes played in his weight loss journey.
“Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” he explained, referring to how he maintains his slimmer figure. “We just try to eat everything with the least carbs possible. So we avoid bread, pasta, and rice. That’s the smartest way to eat.”
Joe added, “This morning, I had breakfast and only ate part of a toast. Normally, I would’ve eaten the whole thing. But we cut carbs and try to be smarter.”
Ozempic, a drug originally designed for Type 2 diabetes management, has also gained attention as a treatment for weight loss. Fat Joe told TMZ that he was diagnosed with diabetes as a teenager, and has used Ozempic, along with exercise and healthy eating, to reach his weight loss goals.
The medication has sparked discussions in Hollywood, with some celebrities, like Ice Spice, addressing rumors about using the drug for weight loss.
Fat Joe is set to host the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, which will air on BET on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET.
