Vodafone Group announced that its Egyptian division has launched digital healthcare tools now utilized in 314 local hospitals. These solutions currently benefit over 6 million patients. The company aims to extend its services to 26 million citizens in the coming years.
In a recent announcement, Vodafone explained that it initiated these digital health services as part of a nationwide project. The goal is to enhance healthcare access and digitize operations at Egyptian University hospitals.
As part of this initiative, Vodafone Egypt equipped hospitals with digital Hospital Information Systems (HIS). This technology enables online payment systems and maintains electronic health records, improving administrative efficiency.
According to the operator, the implementation of HIS at a teaching hospital in Cairo has led to a 32% reduction in average patient waiting times and a nearly 63% decrease in re-admission rates. Additionally, the integrated digital services have saved over 50 million Egyptian pounds, allowing administrative tasks to become completely paperless.
Vodafone Egypt plans to digitally transform 90 more teaching hospitals across 13 universities in the country. The company is also providing technical training to hospital staff to facilitate the transition to modern digital services.
This effort to provide digital health solutions to 26 million Egyptians represents one of the largest digital transformation projects in the nation, covering around 22% of the population.
Vodafone highlighted its successful history in aiding university hospitals in their digital transitions. This includes a project funded by the European Union (EU) with the Frankfurt University Hospital that began in April 2023.
